Driving a car is not a right, but a privilege. Every state allows you the privileges of driving a car as long as you follow the traffic rules. The State of Florida requires every person with a car to retain Florida auto insurance no fault coverage. In Florida, one of the main requirements to drive a vehicle is that the car must be registered and in order to register a car you must show proof of Florida auto insurance. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the state requires personal injury protection and property damage liability. This insurance must be valid as long as the car has a current registration, even if the car is rarely used.

In Florida, the car insurance requirements are as follows: for Personal Injury Protection also known as PIP the minimum coverage amount is $10,000 and for Property Damage Liability also known as PDL it is also $10,000.

Floridians are not alone when it comes to state-imposed car insurance requirements. Every state of America demands a minimum car insurance requirement. The easiest and most cost effective method to obtain car insurance is to use an agent that will produce multiple quotes from multiple companies that meet your insurance needs.

In Florida, these minimum car insurance requirements must be met by each and every driver or car owner. If your car is legally registered and tagged in Florida, you must purchase at least Florida’s minimum car insurance requirements.

For some drivers it is mandatory to buy bodily injury protection, as well; these cases are usually for drivers who have been involved in a certain kind of mishap or for drivers who have been offenders of a crime such as Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

Prior to beginning your hunt for an insurance policy that meets the minimum Florida’s car insurance requirements; you must make sure that you are qualified to have that minimal coverage- not every driver is eligible for it. If you have borrowed money to buy your new car, your lender will definitely want you to buy more than Florida’s minimum car insurance requirements. Every driver in Florida must have insurance, so be sure and do your research and stay safe on the road.

Getting affordable car insurance policy is perhaps the aim of all policy holders. There are different kinds of car insurance policies available in the market but purchasing a car policy where you can save money and yet stay covered, is hard to attain. So here are 6 ways considering which you can get an affordable car insurance policy with the maximum coverage.

Keep a clean driver’s record: To get affordable car insurance policy, you have to keep a clean driving record. The more you violate the traffic rules, the more it will prove to be an obstacle to getting a car insurance policy that can be affordable.

Keep a clean credit report: You also need to have a clean credit report to get an affordable car insurance policy. Most car insurers turn to a driver’s credit score to check whether or not the driver is a good risk. Therefore, it is very necessary to keep a good credit report.

Reconsider your vehicle purchase: Reconsider your vehicle purchase before buying a car insurance policy that it will be affordable for you. It may be that your dream car is a sports car, but to the car insurers, sports cars run the risk of getting stolen. So the premium rates are higher. Therefore, you should consider this fact before buying your car.

Take a driver safety course: It is better to take a driver safety course to qualify for an affordable car insurance policy. Most insurance companies offer discounts on a car policy if the driver has successfully completed a defensive driving course.

Raise your deductible: The more deductible amount you pay, the more you can yield overall savings on your premiums. But do not raise them so much that you find it difficult to pay off the deductible during an accident.

Shop around: You need to do an exhaustive market research to compare the car insurance quotes and coverage levels, so that it becomes easier for you to make the best choice.

It may take a little time and effort to get an affordable car insurance policy, but it is not impossible to get one. You just need to do a dedicated research to save money on your car insurance policy.

There are many ways to save money in Florida, but there is only one way to save money on your car insurance. MyFloridaInsurance.info is a leading online insurance marketplace where you can compare great rates and get the most reasonable local car insurance available in Florida. By comparing rates from over a dozen insurance companies, you not only get the lowest rates, you also get a policy that fits your needs and keeps you safe. We provide an effective approach to buying your car insurance online after making a comparison between the rates; thereby saving your money and your time.

Florida Car Insurance Requirements
Florida state law requires PIP, and Property Damage Liability with at least limits of $10,000. This essential coverage is frequently known as a PIP, yet state law does not require Bodily Injury Liability, unless you had an accident where you injured someone and didn’t have it. It is recommended that you should get at least the lowest amount of Bodily Injury Liability. Florida Insurance Coverage for Property Damage Liability is up to $10,000 and for Personal Injury Protection it is also $10,000.

The state of Florida has a No-Fault system that guarantees your auto insurance company will provide payments for your injuries in spite of liability, up to a particular limit. Specifics of a no-fault claim differ from one state to another. Personal Injury Protection or PIP will pay for medical care for you. Florida state law is to carry Personal Injury Protection of $10,000.

You can obtain Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury to protect you from an accident with an underinsured/ uninsured driver. In Florida it is required for drivers to buy this coverage, unless they sign a form saying they reject it. Truthfully, you should consider buying this valuable coverage.

While purchasing coverage you shouldn’t only focus on choosing the Minimum State Required. There is a wide range of coverage options to choose from and you can customize each limit and deductible to suit your needs. If this selection making is difficult, you can get advice from an insurance agent. These agents are licensed by Florida and exist to help you understand the quoting and buying process.

Currently, the standard auto insurance premium in Florida is $1,683, whereas the national standard payment is $1,580. Insurance companies decide their rates differently therefore everyone’s rate will be different with every company. You need to shop all around to make sure you are saving money by obtaining every possible discount.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a perfect driver or a high-risk driver, you can work hard to find the best rates available in Florida. With all the information on auto theft and car accidents, it is important to protect yourself and your possessions.

There is a large group of people that think finding cheap insurance quotes is time-consuming. And even if they did take the time to request a free quote, they wouldn’t save any money. And if they did save money, they are locked into their current policy for 6 months anyway, so why bother? We want to help this group of people see the light and save money! Now is the time. Not tomorrow, today.

Requesting an insurance quote is so quick it’ll make your head spin! When you call an insurance company, you will spend 15 minutes on the phone, guaranteed. The reason it takes so long is because the insurance company has to collect your information, discuss coverages, and wait for their computer screens to load. Getting a quote online is NOTHING like that!! The greatest part about requesting free insurance quotes online is that you fill out your information one time and That’s it. With our secure forms, your information is sent directly to 5 insurance agents in your geographic location. Just like your credit card information, your personal info is guarded just as securely. When the agent receives it on the other end, they run your info on their time (not yours) and call or email you with their best price. You can have 5 different quotes from 5 different insurance companies in a matter of minutes, not hours.

With 5 different companies competing for your business, it is the easiest way to save hundreds of dollars on your car insurance in Florida. People on average save $35 every month, and some people have saved over $55 every month by using our site! How’s that for Florida insurance?!

This is the absolute easiest way to compare the price of many different companies without spending a whole day doing it. And since you will get emails from everyone, you can compare everything in front of you, in writing, on your own time, when you have the time.

Lastly, there is a common belief that you cannot switch insurance companies until your 6 month term is up. This is simply not the case. At ANY time you can switch companies! If you find a better price/company/agent, secure your new policy with them, then call your current insurance company and tell them you switched and they will refund any days worth of insurance you have already paid for. It makes no sense to continue over-paying for your insurance when it is just so easy to get free car insurance quotes over the internet!

So what are you waiting for? We offer Florida insurance for all our patrons free of charge! Find out how your current premium stacks up against the competition. Also, we are much more accurate than Progressive’s comparison of different companies. For 1, we don’t have bias towards any particular company. For 2, Progressive has absolutely no way of knowing how other companies structure their rates. They can sometimes get close, but close doesn’t cut it anymore. Not when we can do it quicker and more accurate. You’ll never know how much you can save unless you get your free quote today!

There has been much talk lately regarding insurance in Florida. Governor Crist has vetoed the only property bill he was presented with on June 1, 2010. Proponents of the bill, including the majority of House and Senate members along with the Insurance Commissioner have left many to question whose side Crist is really on when dealing with insurance in Florida. If Crist thinks he is doing a service to his constiutents, he may want to think again. With an increase in storm activity, including hurricanes, the insurance will be surely tested this year. How many companies will be able to weather the storm. Most of the 200+ companies writing policies in Florida have never encountered a true Florida hurricane because most of these companies are less than 4 years old. There is a very good reason there aren’t any big players left in Florida writing homeowners policies. Governor Crist has taken the profit out of insurance in Florida so when these companies were meant to be building their surplus during the light storm years (thank you El Nino), they were instead losing money. In the past year more than 4 companies have gone out of business. The Florida CFO Alex Sink is struggling to comprehend the motives behind Governor Crist and Insurance Commissioner McCarty as to the accurate cause of these insurance companies failing without major storms. Apparently the practice of keeping homeowners rates artificially low has more than backfired leaving homeowners scrambling to find quality companies that won’t fold after the very first hurricane.

Now that hurricane season is officially underway as of June 1, 2010, wouldn’t now be a great time to get new homeowners quotes from the top companies in Florida?

According to Florida Statute 627.728, if your insurance company cancels your policy before its normal 6 month termination date, by law, they must provide you in writing at least 45 days beforehand.

Non-renewals of auto insurance in Florida before their normal expiration date will also have 45 days advance notice. Also, the cancellation has to include the specific reason for cancellation as well as provide information about the Florida JUA or Joint Underwriting Association. The Florida JUA is the high-risk insurance of last resort for Floridians who can’t find affordable coverage on their own. If no other company wants your business, the Florida JUA does.

This is important information here; for NON-PAYMENT of your premium, the insurance company only has to give you 10 days notice! This notice will not come from your insurance agent either. This notice is mailed from your companies main office and is official. If you are lucky enough to have an insurance agent that helps remind you to pay your premium, you have found a rare office. Most offices are far too busy to monitor thousands of policyholders everyday to remind you to pay your bill on time.

If you forget to pay your premium and find yourself without insurance for over 30 days, you may have a problem finding insurance that is affordable. Many companies won’t even take your application/ money if it’s been too long. And if they do, they may charge $4000 per year for the same coverage you used to have for only $1500. We will talk more about that situation in our blog post next week. Until then…………..

Living in Florida entails following certain rules. One of these, if we own a car, is to be properly insured and maintain this car insurance. The state of Florida considers these insurance coverages mandatory; Personal Injury Protection PIP and Property Damage liability. There is a third and lesser known coverage that is required under the Florida Financial Responsibility Law, which is Bodily Injury liability. This is the coverage that will pay for other people’s injuries that we may be responsible for due to a car accident. While this is not a requirement to get your registration or a tag, the Florida Financial Responsibility Law still expects all motorists to carry $10,000 per person and $20,000 per accident of Bodily Injury liability. Another option is to have this money already in the bank and readily available.

In the current economic hardships associated with living in Florida, it becomes an easy idea when thinking of ways to lower our monthly bills to quit paying for our car insurance for a few months. The problem lies in the inherent danger of that decision. The most obvious being if there is an accident, we may be responsible for $10,000 of the other party’s property damage and up to $20,000 of the other party’s injuries. In Florida, our wage’s can be garnished to repay these financial obligations and liens may be placed upon our homes. The state of Florida will also suspend our driving privileges for failure to maintain car insurance.

Another danger of driving without insurance for over 30 days is that when we do go to get car insurance again it will become incredibly expensive and may even become unavailable. This is when the Florida JUA may be the best alternative for car insurance. The Florida JUA is known as the insurer of last resort and is designed for high risk drivers and those needing an SR22 filing with the state. All Florida insurance companies are members of the Florida JUA, however, not all Florida insurance agents are able to submit applications and bind coverages for Florida JUA.

MyFloridaInsurance.info recommends getting as many quotes from different companies as possible. The more options available, the more money we will be able to save. The Florida JUA should still be treated as the insurer of last resort. If all our choices are simply too expensive, the Florida JUA may be the answer.

When it comes to home insurance in Florida there is no doubt a crisis in the making. In all seriousness, Florida is 1 hurricane away from complete bankruptcy. There are countless articles all talking about the problems, the shortfalls, and the Consumer Choice bill which aims to correct the problem.

MyFloridaInsurance.info Launches Home Insurance Florida Initiative

Our options are to either pay more for our home insurance now, or pay more taxes (assessments on our auto insurance, homeowners insurance, personal articles, umbrellas, etc) in the future. 30 years in to the future, maybe more. So now, we will be placing higher insurance premiums on our children, maybe even our grandchildren.

Thankfully there are people and groups who recognize Florida’s troubled situation and are trying to help. Among them are Former Governor Jeb Bush, the government watchdog Florida TaxWatch, Representative Bill Proctor, Senate hopeful Marco Rubio, and more recently Rudy Giuliani.

The main opponent to the Consumer Choice bill is Gov. Charlie Crist. Last year he vetoed the bill after passing the House and Senate with large majorities in both. This year they will plan on voting earlier in the legislative session in case Gov. Charlie Crist plans on vetoing it again they can override his veto and turn it into law themselves. Crist seems to think he has done a fine job of insurance in Florida and supports his own method of prayer for protecting homes in Florida from hurricanes. No matter what your faith is, Florida can not rely on prayer alone to protect us from natural disasters.

If you can seriously complain about desiring a company that will pay your claim after a disaster, or wanting artificially low rates, there is always Citizens Property Insurance for your convenience.

It is completely up to us at this point. We must decide if we can handle our own insurance responsibilities or pass the buck to our kids and grandkids. If you are in support of the Consumer Choice bill, write your elected officials and call their offices. Together we can fix this home insurance in Florida.
